The University of Chicago women's swimming and diving team celebrates a significant achievement as all three of their divers qualify for the 2026 NCAA Division III National Championship. At the regional meet held in Kalamazoo, Veronica Fong secured a third-place finish in the 1-meter event with a score of 435.65, while also placing fourth in the 3-meter with 427.70. Lilia Atanda followed closely, finishing fourth in the 1-meter (421.85) and second in the 3-meter (444.65). Sumiye Allen rounded out the trio with a fifth-place finish in the 1-meter (420.20), marking a successful outing for the Maroons as they prepare for the national stage.
On the wrestling front, the 14th-ranked men's team made history by qualifying five wrestlers for the NCAA Division III National Championships, a program record. Sean Conway led the way with a perfect 4-0 performance to claim the 141-pound Regional title, including a decisive 5-2 victory in the finals against UW-Whitewater. Maksim Mukhamedaliyev also captured a Regional title, showcasing his dominance with a tech fall win over Olivet and a 13-7 decision against Millikin. The Maroons' other qualifiers include two additional wrestlers who performed strongly at the regional meet, ensuring a robust representation at the upcoming national competition.
Both teams now look ahead to the NCAA Championships, with swimming and diving set to compete from March 18 to March 21 in Indianapolis, while wrestling will also take the mat at the national level later in March.
