The Bobcats opened their Florida trip with a decisive 14-4 victory over SUNY Fredonia on March 18, capitalizing on early errors and scoring heavily in the second inning. Senior outfielder Gibby Sullivan has been a standout, earning Maine College Baseball Association Player of the Week honors after batting .500 with 16 RBIs through the first seven games. The team continued its strong performance by sweeping Plymouth State in a doubleheader, winning 3-0 and 6-2, further solidifying their impressive start. They are set to face SUNY Fredonia again on March 22.
In women's lacrosse, the Bobcats showcased their offensive prowess with a commanding 20-7 win against UMass Dartmouth on March 16. The team exploded for nine goals in the first quarter, with contributions from fourteen different players. This victory marks a strong start to their season, demonstrating both depth and skill on the field.
Bates softball opened its season in Florida with a split, defeating Alverno College 8-2 on March 16 before falling 5-0 to UMass Dartmouth. The highlight of the opener was a three-run home run by sophomore Maddy Miller, marking her first collegiate home run. The team also swept Rutgers-Camden and Edgewood University in a doubleheader, showcasing their pitching strength and offensive capabilities despite cooler temperatures.
Men's basketball saw junior forward Babacar Pouye recognized as a second team All-District selection by the National Association of Basketball Coaches, capping off a successful season where the team reached the NESCAC semifinals and earned a spot in the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2015. Pouye's performance throughout the season, including averages of 14.2 points and 8 rebounds per game, has been instrumental in the team's achievements this year.
