The sixth-ranked Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team delivered a commanding performance against Bridgewater College, winning 19-3 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference matchup on April 5. The Generals (11-2, 6-0 ODAC) established control early, scoring seven goals in the first quarter, including a milestone goal from Hannah Van Son, who netted her 100th career score. The team maintained its dominance throughout the game, with contributions from Katie Reed, Grace Kim, and Carleigh Taylor in the first half. After leading 10-2 at halftime, W&L extended its advantage with a strong third quarter, capped by two goals from Kelly Polacek, and finished the match with five goals in the fourth quarter, showcasing their balanced offensive attack.
In wrestling, Washington and Lee achieved a significant academic milestone by finishing third nationally in the NWCA Scholar All-America standings, with ten student-athletes earning individual honors. This recognition highlights the program's commitment to academic excellence alongside competitive success. Among the honorees is sophomore All-American Liam Flanagan, who played a pivotal role in a season that featured five ODAC Champions and multiple national qualifiers. Senior Evan Lindner, the program's all-time wins leader, was also recognized, marking a notable achievement as he became a three-time NCAA qualifier. The Generals posted a team GPA of 3.7859, underscoring their dedication to both academics and athletics.
Additionally, Washington and Lee ranks 19th nationally in the Division III winter standings of the Learfield Directors' Cup, leading the ODAC with a total of 409 points. This ranking reflects strong performances across various sports, including women's basketball, which reached the NCAA Quarterfinals, contributing significantly to the program's overall success this season.
