The Amherst College women's golf team excelled at the Jack Leaman Invitational, finishing third overall while their B team placed fourth. First-year Grace Zhan led the way with a standout performance, securing first place among 66 competitors with an overall score of -2 after shooting 70 in the final round. Following Zhan, first-year Emma Lindemoen and sophomore Joelle Kim each recorded impressive rounds of 75. The Mammoths, currently ranked sixth nationally, will continue their season at the upcoming tournament.
In women's lacrosse, the No. 5 Mammoths delivered a decisive 19-5 victory over Westfield State on April 11. The team showcased its offensive depth, with nine players contributing goals. A pivotal 7-0 run in the second quarter helped solidify the win, improving Amherst's record to 12-1. The Mammoths will celebrate senior day in their next match against top-ranked Middlebury on April 18.
The men’s golf team also had a strong showing at the Dr. Tim Brown Invitational, finishing second overall. Sophomore Andre Zhang stood out by winning the individual title with a score of -2, including a final round of 70. The Mammoths will look to build on this momentum at the FSC Spring Invitational next weekend.
In track and field, both the men's and women's teams competed across multiple meets, achieving notable personal records. At the Silfen Invitational, sophomore Flora Biro clocked a personal best of 17:03.00 in the 5,000 meters, ranking her among the top ten in Division III. Senior Allison Lounsbury also set a personal record in the 10,000 meters. Meanwhile, the men's team saw Stan Craig lead the way with a time of 14:14.15 in the 5,000 meters, marking one of the top performances in the division this season. Both teams will continue to compete in upcoming meets as they prepare for the championship season.
