Claremont-Mudd-Scripps enters the tournament as SCIAC champions, having swept Pomona-Pitzer in the regional final. The Athenas boast three players already qualified for NCAA singles competition, positioning them as a formidable opponent against Bowdoin in the opening match.
Bowdoin, returning to the national quarterfinals, achieved a significant upset in the second round, defeating MIT 4-0 after a dramatic doubles comeback. The Polar Bears aim to continue their momentum against the Athenas.
In another quarterfinal, ninth-ranked Washington and Lee faces fourth-ranked Wesleyan. The Generals pulled off a stunning victory against seventh-ranked Emory on their home court, with sophomore Sarah Donnelly clinching the match. Wesleyan counters with a sixth NESCAC title, having achieved a historic first-ever sweep of Bowdoin. NESCAC Rookie of the Year Agnes Guggenheim leads the Cardinals into this pivotal matchup.
At 2 p.m., eighth-ranked Carnegie Mellon will challenge defending champion Washington University in St. Louis. The Tartans advanced by narrowly defeating fifth-ranked Johns Hopkins 4-3, with freshmen Kanumuri and Wong already making their mark in the NCAA singles draw. WashU returns to the Elite Eight for the third consecutive year, looking to defend their title from 2025 with a strong roster that includes three ITA Regional Award winners.
Closing out the day, second-ranked Chicago meets fifth-ranked Babson. The Maroons are making their ninth consecutive appearance in the national quarterfinals, having swept the ITA Central Region with standout performances from Biria, Paul, and Zou. Babson, however, is the Cinderella story of the tournament, reaching the NCAA quarterfinals for the first time in program history and looking to upset the two-seed.
The quarterfinals take place Monday, followed by semifinals on Tuesday, and the final on Thursday at the Champions Tennis Club.
