Army West Point women's lacrosse senior Brigid Duffy has made history by being named a finalist for the Tewaaraton Award, the premier accolade in college lacrosse recognizing the nation's top players. Duffy is the first female finalist from Army and the fifth overall from the program, joining an elite group. She leads the Black Knights with 70 goals and ranks second in the Patriot League with 98 points, showcasing her prowess as a key player. Duffy will attend the Tewaaraton Award Ceremony on May 28 in Washington, D.C.
The Army West Point men's lacrosse team, fresh off securing the 2026 Patriot League Championship, is set to face the No. 8 seed Penn State in the first round of the NCAA tournament. This marks Army's return to the national stage, and the game will take place on May 9 at University Park, Pennsylvania. The Black Knights are looking to build on their successful season as they enter the postseason.
In baseball, Josiah Overbeek and Thomas Schreck have garnered major awards, with Overbeek named the Patriot League Rookie of the Year and Schreck earning the title of Defensive Player of the Year. Overbeek has excelled as a two-way player, leading the team with a .313 batting average and 15 home runs, while Schreck's defensive skills have been pivotal for the Black Knights. Additionally, five Army players received All-Patriot League honors, tying for the most in the league this season. The Black Knights clinched the No. 1 seed in the Patriot League tournament after a series win against Navy, setting the stage for their semifinal matchup against Holy Cross on May 9.
Softball also enjoyed a successful week, with eight cadet-athletes named to the Patriot League All-League Teams, including five on the First Team, which ties a program record. Breanna Coonfare and Katelyn Flanders were recognized for their academic achievements, earning spots on the Academic All-League Team. Coonfare's performance this season included a .300 batting average and a team-high 10 doubles. The Black Knights have established themselves as a force in the league, finishing strong with multiple accolades.
In track and field, Skye Chambers and Abigail Ringwood received Patriot League honors for their performances at the Larry Ellis Invitational. Chambers set a program and service academy record in the 800m, while Ringwood was named Rookie of the Week. Their achievements highlight the depth of talent within the Army track program.
Lastly, the football program announced the hiring of Madison Cifra as Director of Recruiting, bringing valuable experience from Boston College. Cifra's background in recruiting and sports administration is expected to enhance Army's recruiting efforts moving forward.
