The University of Rochester women's lacrosse team received significant recognition this week, highlighted by senior attacker Alyssa Gorny being named the Liberty League Attacker of the Year. This accolade marks only the second time in program history that a Yellowjacket has received this honor, the first being Anni McDonough in 1997. Additionally, the coaching staff of Carly Ritchlin, Gracie Giannettino, and Ben Hackenberg was awarded Coaching Staff of the Year, a first for the program. Gorny and junior defender Jenna Ufberg were also named First Team All-League selections, while Anna Rogers, Maddie Bunting, and Isla Ablin earned Third Team honors. In tennis, three members of the University of Rochester women's team received All-Association accolades from the University Athletic Association. Sophomore Katie Yang earned recognition as a first singles player, while the senior duo of Sanjana Karnam and Jasmin Toor were honored in first doubles. Yang and Karnam both received their second All-UAA awards, while Toor was recognized for the first time in her final season. On the men's side, sophomores Andy Liu and Alan Wang were also recognized with All-UAA honors. Liu received Second Team accolades as a first singles player, his first All-UAA award, while Wang earned Honorable Mention for the second singles position. The men's team concluded its season with a 6-13 record, having faced several ranked opponents and securing a notable victory against #33 Rensselaer.
In softball, junior Riley Laygo and senior Molly Broccolo were recognized by the Liberty League, with Laygo named Performer of the Week and Broccolo as Pitcher of the Week. Laygo's impressive performance helped the Yellowjackets finish the regular season with a 6-0 record, boasting a .632 batting average and 12 RBIs over the week. Her standout games included a pair of victories against Ithaca, where she contributed significantly to the team's success. This recognition highlights the strong finish for the Yellowjackets as they head into postseason play.
