The Bowdoin College women's basketball team has earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament and will host a First/Second Round Regional in Morrell Gymnasium this weekend. The Polar Bears, boasting a strong 24-2 record, will face Emmanuel College (21-7) in the first round on Friday at 7:45 p.m. Earlier that evening, the University of Southern Maine (24-2) will take on Johnson & Wales (22-4) at 5:15 p.m. The winners will meet on Saturday at 7:45 p.m. Tickets for the event will be available starting Tuesday, March 3, with Bowdoin students receiving complimentary access.
In men's ice hockey, Bowdoin's Jacob Osborne has been recognized as the NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year, marking a significant individual achievement for the sophomore goalie. Osborne led the conference with a 1.65 goals against average and a .941 save percentage across 23 games this season. He was joined by junior Isaac Abbott, who earned First Team All-NESCAC honors for the third consecutive year, contributing 16 points with four game-winning goals. In women's ice hockey, senior Emma Merrill and junior Luna Lu also received All-NESCAC accolades, with Merrill named to the First Team and Lu to the Second Team for their standout performances this season.
The Bowdoin track and field teams showcased their talents at the New England Division III Indoor Championships, with the women's team finishing ninth and the men's team placing 14th. Kaylee Hale earned All-New England honors with a runner-up finish in the 1000 meters, while Laura White secured fourth in the mile. Catherine Uwakwe added to the team's success with a seventh-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles. The Polar Bears will look to build on this momentum as they head into the outdoor season.
Additionally, Bowdoin's swimming and diving teams are preparing for the NCAA Division III Championships, with eight athletes set to compete starting March 18 in Indianapolis. This marks a significant opportunity for the program as they aim to make their mark on the national stage.
