The No. 10 Wesleyan men's lacrosse team celebrated Senior Day with a commanding 14-6 victory over No. 14 Middlebury on April 5. The Cardinals (8-2, 4-2 NESCAC) never trailed, showcasing strong defensive play despite losing the faceoff battle 19-5. Senior goalkeeper Conor Selfridge made 11 saves, while Gavin Lechner '27 and Ben Burns '26 contributed key goals to establish an early lead. Wesleyan's defense limited Middlebury to just 17 shots on goal, ensuring a comfortable win as the team looks to build on this momentum.
In rowing, the No. 2 Wesleyan men's crew team continued its strong start to the season with a sweep of MIT in a rare double race weekend. The Cardinals won both the Varsity 8 and 2nd Varsity 8 races on April 5, finishing in 6:01.5 and 6:14.3, respectively. Earlier, they dominated WPI’s Class of 2003 Cup, winning all four races with the Varsity 8 clocking a blistering 5:48.67. The team will next compete against Tufts, Bates, and Boston College on April 10.
The No. 6 Wesleyan women's crew team opened its spring season with two victories at the Jennifer McLaughlin Cup, hosted by WPI. The Cardinals’ 2nd Varsity 8 and 3rd Varsity 8 boats secured wins, with the 2V8 finishing in 6:57.2, ten seconds ahead of the runner-up. The Varsity 8 boat placed third, clocking in at 6:47.4. They will race again on April 11 against Tufts, Bates, and Wellesley.
In track and field, both the men's and women's teams competed at the Amherst Spring Fling on April 5, with notable performances from Steve Paul '28, who set a new school record in the 100m dash with a time of 10.59 seconds. He also won the 200m dash. Juliette Sullivan '27 highlighted the women's events with a second-place finish in the 200m, crossing the line at 25.66 seconds. Both teams will compete again on April 10 at the Silfen Invitational at Connecticut College.
Wesleyan's softball team faced Amherst on April 5, splitting a doubleheader. After losing the first game 3-0, the Cardinals rebounded to win the second game 6-5, improving their season record to 12-9 (4-4 NESCAC). The team will look to build on this momentum in their upcoming matches.
