The University of Chicago men's tennis team secured its fourth UAA title in program history, defeating ranked opponents Rochester, Emory, and Case Western Reserve in the championship rounds. The Maroons, who are currently on a nine-match win streak, finished the season with an impressive 18-3 record. Coach Matt Brisotti, who led the team to this success, was named UAA Coach of the Year, completing a sweep of the award across both men's and women's tennis. Alexander Ekstrand also received 1st-Team All-UAA honors in singles play for the second consecutive year.
In women's tennis, Sarena Biria was recognized as the UAA Women's Tennis Player of the Year, highlighting a strong season that included a 24-9 overall record and ranking as the #2 player in NCAA Division III. Under Brisotti's leadership, the women's team also claimed their fifth consecutive UAA championship and heads to the NCAA Tournament as the #2 seed, set to compete in Saint Peter, Minnesota.
The University of Chicago baseball team had a standout week, earning five All-UAA honors alongside three major awards. Erik Rindner was named UAA Position Player of the Year, while John Butka received UAA Pitcher of the Year honors for his perfect 6-0 record this season. The coaching staff, led by Kevin Tyrrell, was also recognized as the UAA Coaching Staff of the Year. Additionally, Corey Savedoff and Luke Weston swept the UAA Baseball Athlete of the Week awards, with Savedoff excelling in relief and Weston delivering a strong offensive performance.
In softball, Nicole Wong and Natalie Antin were named UAA Softball Athletes of the Week. Wong earned Pitcher of the Week honors with a perfect 3-0 record, while Antin excelled at the plate, achieving a .533 batting average over the week. The Maroons are looking to maintain momentum as they head into the final stretch of their season.
