The University of Chicago men's track and field team delivered a strong performance at the Chicagoland Championships, securing ten podium finishes. Oluwaseyi Kadiri led the Maroons with a victory in the Javelin Throw, recording a throw of 54.24 meters, which ranks #50 in NCAA Division III this season. Spencer May won the 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 9:39.88, while Aryan Shrivastava triumphed in the Triple Jump with a mark of 14.89 meters. Additional notable finishes included Adrian Diem's second in the Pole Vault, Siméon Gheysens' second in the 5000m Run, and Nathaniel Stuit's second in the 400m Run, which ranks fifth all-time in UChicago history. The Maroons will continue their season next week.
The women's track and field team also excelled at the Chicagoland Championships, achieving four podium finishes. Eleanor McNichols was the standout performer, winning the 10000m Run with a time of 39:47.79. Sylvia Snider and Alexandra Lohse both secured top-5 finishes in the 5000m Run, with Snider's time of 17:14.53 ranking fourth in UChicago freshman history. The team showcased their strength in the High Jump, with Elizabeth Mulvaney finishing third and Selah Dungey and Clara Bennett finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. The Maroons will next compete at the UAA Championships in Wheaton.
The 21st-ranked women's lacrosse team had a successful week, winning both of their matches. On April 9, they defeated Carthage College 17-6, with Peyton McGuire scoring six goals to lead the team. The Maroons dominated early, building an 8-0 lead by the end of the first quarter. They continued their strong play on April 12, defeating the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse 20-7, with multiple players contributing to the scoring, including McGuire and Wynne Boggan. UChicago improved to 10-4 on the season and will look to maintain momentum in their upcoming games.
In addition to the athletic achievements, the football program announced its updated coaching staff for the 2026 season, including Erik Karlson as the new Defensive Coordinator and Jacob Santos as the Special Teams Coordinator. The coaching staff remains largely intact, with several returning members continuing in their roles. This restructuring aims to enhance the team's performance heading into the new season.
